The prophet Habakkuk paints a breathtaking picture of God when he makes this statement:

But the Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before Him (Habakkuk 2:20).

This is such an awe inspiring picture of the greatness, power, majesty, judgement, and holiness of God so much so the only appropriate response is silence.  What else can we do in the presence of such greatness! But then the apostle Paul makes this statement:

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)

In light of what Habakkuk says, this is quite a statement from Paul.  As a follower of Jesus, we are that very temple that Habakkuk describes and all of the glorious majesty and power of God dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. This is the essence of living a Spirit-filled life. We live with the awareness and understanding that the resurrection and saving power of Jesus is fully present within us and is available to help guide is as we walk each day in the Kingdom of God. We are never alone.  We are never hopeless.  We have the power of God living within us.
