A Gospel Life
Richard Foster says a Gospel life is “a life founded upon the living Word of God, the written Word of God, and the proclaimed Word of God”. I think this is an excellent framework for exploring what living the Gospel is like. It begins with knowing and living in intimate fellowship with Jesus. We grow in this relationship through reading, studying, and meditating on Scripture. Then as we experience the Gospel personally, we can share that Good News with others. We must do the work of our own spiritual growth in order to effectively share with others. “We cannot preach the good news and be the bad news”.
Jesus invites us to participate with Him in inviting others to the wedding banquet. Evangelism is also more than a decision; it is an invitation to a way of living. It is an invitation to all people to experience life in the Kingdom of God now and every day afterward until eternity.
